Outreach & Consultation

The Counseling and Testing Center is committed to reaching out to the university community. Outreach and consultation services are a vital part of how the Counseling and Testing Center interacts with the university at large and promotes student development outside the physical space of the Counseling and Testing Center. Often this takes the form of presentations and workshops to classes and student groups, and, at other times, this involves participation on collaborative programming within the Division of Student Affairs. The outreach programs focus on meeting the developmental needs of students and on promoting their academic, personal, social and psychological growth. Outreach programs include topics ranging from specific psychological and interpersonal topics to general information about the Counseling and Testing Center range of services. Below is a list of common outreach topics:

This is not an exhaustive list and other topics may be requested; however, please be aware that the Counseling and Testing Center staff may not be able to accommodate all outreach program requests at all times. The ability to respond to requests may be impacted by factors such as the current demand for services and availability of staff to present on a given topic. University faculty, staff, academic departments and student groups or organizations are all eligible to request outreach programs. When requesting a workshop or presentation, please make your request at least two weeks prior to the earliest requested event date. Please complete the request for outreach presentation form. If Counseling and Testing Center staff cannot meet a request, staff will attempt to help find other resources to meet your needs.

Consultation Services
In addition to workshops and presentations, the Counseling and Testing Center staff are often called upon to consult with faculty or other university professionals about the psychological and academic well-being of students. Whether responding to concerns about individual students in a psychological crisis, speaking to a group of students after the loss or assault of one of their peers or simply being available following a more public crisis or trauma, the Counseling and Testing Center staff are available to assist the campus community.
