Theoretical Orientation: Dr. Griffith works from a cognitive behavioral orientation with an integration of interpersonal and positive psychology within a multicultural counseling lens.
Areas of Clinical Interest: Mindfulness and meditation, coping with chronic health conditions, African American women’s issues, sport and performance psychology, life transitions, stress management, resilience, anxiety and depression.
- Biography
Dr. Jeana Griffith is the director of Integrated Health Services, and has conducted research and has publications in the areas of sickle cell disease, depression and weight, and shape and eating in African Americans. She has written a treatment manual for coping with chronic health conditions and has led groups based on this approach. Some of her professional interests include anxiety, depression, diversity, coping with chronic health concerns, sports psychology and cognitive behavioral therapy. She has a passion for developing innovative programming to assist students with the tools they need so they can Be Well and Do Well.
Fun Facts/Hobbies: Dr. Griffith enjoys photography, exploring new nature trails, stained glass projects and baking. She is also the mother of two Rottweilers and a cat.
