The ACT is a paper and pencil standardized test used for admission into undergraduate programs at Georgia State University. The ACT consists of tests in following areas:

English 75 Questions 45 Minutes
Mathematics 60 Questions 60 Minutes
Reading 40 Questions 35 Minutes
Science Reasoning 40 Questions 35 Minutes
*Writing 1 Essay 30 Minutes

*Included only with ACT Assessment Plus Writing test option. This test is required of applicants to Georgia State University who entered in fall 2006 or later.

With the exception of the writing test, each of these tests contains multiple choice questions that offer either four or five answer choices from which students choose the correct or best answer.

The ACT is offered six times a year. For information on the test schedule and registering for a future test date, consult the ACT website. Students can register by the following methods:

  • Online registration (Credit card required).
  • Standby testing
  • By telephone at 319-337-1270 for students who have a previous registration on file only. (Credit card required – additional $15 phone fee applies)

Test candidates are strongly encouraged to review the ACT website  and the online registration bulletin for policies regarding scheduling and rescheduling, required identification on test day and calculator usage.
