Taking the Math Placement Test

Walk in or Retaking Math Placement Test

The following individuals may take the math placement test on a walk in basis:

  • Students who have already taken the math placement test and want to retake it to improve their test score ($50 fee)
  • Current Georgia State University students who want to determine the math class in the upcoming semester for which they are eligible to register (no fee).

Students who meet the above criteria should come to the Counseling and Testing Center on the second floor of 75 Piedmont Ave NE. (across from University Commons at the corner of John Wesley Dobbs Ave. NE and Piedmont Ave. NE) on one of the dates and times listed below. Testing is offered on a first come, first served basis. Students should not attempt to schedule an appointment or register through their PAWS account for the dates listed below.

Students should bring the following items on the test date:

  • Non-expired photo ID
  • Panther ID number
  • $50 money order (cash, personal checks and credit or debit cards not accepted) made payable to Georgia State University to retake the test.

April 19: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
April 20: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
April 26: 9 – 11 a.m. and 1 – 3 p.m.

May 11: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Urban Life Mile
May 16: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Urban Life Mile
May 22: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Urban Life Mile
June 7: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Urban Life Mile
June 14: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Urban Life Mile
June 25: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. – Urban Life Mile

To prepare for the math placement test, visit ACCUPLACER or Purplemath for college algebra, geometry and trigonometry samples with solutions.
